Clinton proposes $1 billion in mortgage help?

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton proposed clamping down on mortgage lending abuses and aid to families who face losing their homes.

I bet the republicans go berserk. They will find all kinds of reasons why we should not spend money helping people and protecting the public from unethical lending practices.

If we talk about the $12 billion a month we are spending in Iraq, well, %26quot;that is alright%26quot;.

Hello? Spend money to to protect the public? How absurd! Much like spending money on our intrastructures. Please, for goodness sake, do NOT spend any money on the people in this country when there%26#039;s far better use for it in Iraq! First, Clinton doesn%26#039;t %26quot;follow%26quot; anyone%26#039;s lead. Second, how to pay? Let me count the ways! To blame people who haven%26#039;t the expertise to comprehend fully the legalese of UNETHICAL lenders is absurd. Clearly, anyone who pays $14,000. in federal income tax isn%26#039;t in touch enough to even know (or care) what this is about. I know a man in his eighties who is in foreclosure right now, because the lender inflated the value of his home in order to put the glom on the mortgage, get their outrageous closing costs, %26amp; HUGE APR. No, it%26#039;s not alright to spend billions on an invasion while people in this country are without health care, no where to go when their homes are forclosed, children starving every day--%26amp; please stop me--but there%26#039;s a strategy to money being spent on Iraq, %26amp; it%26#039;s not moral, legal, or just in any way. Of course the Republicans will go beserk, but remember--we are governed by a dictator/S, %26amp; any realistic proposal will be vetoed.

She was probably referring to her own home.|||Hillary is buying votes now.|||will she help me,if so i will vote for her|||Do you think home prices are too high now? Does it prevent low income people from getting a mortgage and getting out of rent?

If any sort of bailout happens, it will put financial support under the already inflated home market. Its a great way to buy votes from homeowners, but it will make it harder for low income people to buy homes in the future and will be yet another factor contributing to inflation.

Oh well, it will put money in my portfolio. Too bad it screws the working poor.|||Let%26#039;s see, for those of us who understand that a deal that is %26quot;too good to be true%26quot; is actually TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, we would finance all the idiots that bought houses that are too expensive and financed themselves beyond their ability to pay?

Being stupid should be punished. Not bailed out by those of us who actually payed attention in school and aren%26#039;t.

Why is it every time I object to the government giving away my tax money (and I paid 14,000 dollars in federal income tax last year) to someone else, you mention the Iraq war cost. Maybe I would rather we not have invaded Iraq as well. You could just stop spending money there, rather than using that expense to justify every liberal program you can think of.|||I think Illene Dover has the greatest answer so far. I could not agree more.|||The republicans might not object if... say... there is oil on your property... and they get the rights to it. ;)
