I always feel weird about depositing cash at an ATM because if they lose it or if someone working there steals it, I will have no proof that I deposited it. Has anyone ever lost their money depositing cash at an ATM??

ATM deposits are generally safe. The ATM records and balances what the customers are saying they are depositing, the people processing the ATM deposits are simply opening them to verify what the customer says they deposited and what they actually deposited matches. If the teller/processor doesn%26#039;t match what they ATM says they should have (cash, checks, payments, whatever) the processor is out of balance and has to explain why. I would say depositing cash at an ATM is safe.
However, when you make a deposit at an ATM it CAN add an additional day delay before your deposit is available to use. Since the ATMs usually have a cut off time, or a time when the envelopes are pulled from the machine for processing, if you make your deposit after that cut off time for the day it will generally NOT be available the next day like a deposit made with a teller but maybe the day after that. If you are depositing cash, do it with a teller so its available immediately for your own convenience.

There is no way I would deposit cash in something over night for that reason alone. You have no proof|||No and you can%26#039;t - every transaction is recorded and marked to whether it was cash or check deposit, etc. - they%26#039;re perfectly safe.|||Generally, ATM balancing is in dual control. This means, 2 people verify the funds. It is your decision to trust. There%26#039;s no way to proof how much cash you deposited.
