Is it true that you can have whatever you gave up during Lent on Sundays?

I%26#039;m thinking about giving up facebook for Lent (b/c I%26#039;m addicted). However, I don%26#039;t want to leave my friends hanging too long or ignore them, say if they send me a message, friend request, etc. It seems like 40 days it too long to put off friends, but I also heard that during Lent, you could have whatever you gave up on Sundays. Is this true, or is this something that I should stay away from and just give up facebook cold turkey?

Yes that%26#039;s correct.

Sundays are %26#039;feast days%26#039; so aren%26#039;t counted in the 40 days of Lent. (check it out on a calendar, starting with Ash Wednesday and finishing on Holy Saturday - 40 days + 6 Sundays)

No, I don%26#039;t think that is right.|||You can have it all, everyday!|||There is NO SCRIPTURAL BASIS FOR LENT!|||LEnt is about giving something up to devote your time to God instead that thing. Kind of like a fast.

I have not heard of that sunday thing but i would not make sense to me because sunday is suppoe to be a day of rest, also devoted to God|||On Sundays you are free from the sacrifice you made for the season of Lent.|||Only cafeteria Christians believe that. What you promise is what you will do from the start of Lent to the end of Lent, no exceptions. There is no, %26quot;off on Sundays%26quot; or %26quot;well, Lent is really over 40 days, so once it hits 40, I%26#039;m off the hook%26quot;. That is not how it works. If you can%26#039;t live with chocolate or soda or whatever you gave up for that length of time, then take the easy road and pick something easy to give up.

I always give up what I feel like I can%26#039;t live without. It%26#039;s torture sometimes, but I feel so worth it at the end and I look back and say, %26quot;I did it.%26quot;

If you want to give up Facebook, but cheat, then what are you really doing. Lent is a time to live just a little of the suffering that Jesus went through. Either have the strength to go through what you are promising God you%26#039;ll do, or don%26#039;t do it. It%26#039;s just 40 days.|||The definition of what days are included in Lent is given in General Norms 28. No exception is made for Sundays. Indeed, the General Norms go on to specifically name the Sundays of the period as belonging to the season: %26quot;The Sundays of this season are called the First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Sundays of Lent. The Sixth Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week, is called Passion Sunday (Palm Sunday)%26quot; (General Norms 30).

Some people customarily allow themselves on Sunday to have things they have voluntarily given up for Lent, but since these forms of self-denial were voluntarily assumed anyway, a person is not under an obligation to practice them on Sunday (or any other specific day of the week).
