Lent is the time of year where we Christians are to self-examine ourselves and make sure we%26#039;re still on the narrow path. It%26#039;s a call to holiness, so to speak. We recognize the last days ofthe incarnate Christ on earth and the overwhelming call given us to follow Him. Following Him requires self-abandonment, self-dispipline and sacrifice on our part. So that%26#039;s what we are supposed to embrace this time of year.

However, this %26quot;call to hoilness%26quot; is, in fact, supposed to be practised everyday of the year, not just during lent. I believe the church instituted Lent to wake up the sleeping Christian.

Lent is an empty religious form, as a means to justify yourself before other sorry slobs who have not done the %26quot;righteous restriction%26quot; that you did.
