When does Lent start and finish this year?

Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, lasts 40 days not counting Sundays and ends on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter.

In 2008, Ash Wednesday will fall on February 6 and Easter on March 23.

Orthodox Christian .|||This year and every year, it begins the day after Mardi Gras Celebration this Wednesday (Ash Wednesday) and goes on for 40 days? I believe I have it right?|||Easter is always 46 days after Ash Wednesday, which is February 6th this year. (Sundays are not counted - it%26#039;s been that way since the 8th century). Of course Easter is March 23 this year.|||It starts after pancake day, when you are supposed to eat everything in the house stuffed in a big pancake.
